William B. McNear, 99, of Allentown, died peacefully Dec. 15, 2024 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Ella T. (Brunner) McNear.  Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Jesse B. and Mary Jane (Mace) McNear.  Bill honorably and faithfully served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII.  He was a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking for many years, retiring in 1987.  As a truck driver, he was a member of the Three Million Mile Club.  After retirement, he was a school bus driver for Salisbury School District for 18 years.  Bill was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Allentown.  He was a life member of the American Legion and VFW.

Bill will be remembered by his wife of 70 years, Ella; daughters, Sharon wife of Elwood Benner of Allentown and Sandra wife of Michael Franco of Allentown; grandchildren, David, Alexandra, Sonia, Bobette, Chris, and John; great grandchildren, Logan, Zachary, and Sarah.  He was predeceased by siblings, Grant McNear and Agnes Dress.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Sat., Jan. 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
