William Lagler,
Jr.
February 2, 1939 – March 21, 2024
William Lagler, Jr., 85, of Zionsville, died March 21, 2024 in the home he built, surrounded by three generations of his loving family. He was the husband of Carolyn F. (Clauser) Lagler. Born in Zionsville, he was the son of the late William "Fritz" and Anna M. (Zentner) Lagler. Bill earned an associate's degree in drafting and design from Penn State University. He worked in sales and engineering for many years, retiring in 2006 from A & A Company, South Plainfield, NJ. He was an active member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, serving in various roles including building and grounds committee and the president of consistory. In his younger years, Bill was active with Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, serving as recording secretary, 1st Vice President, Assistant Chief, Financial Secretary, and Trustee. He was a member and treasurer of Hivel und Dahl Preservation Society, member of Upper Milford Historical Society, and past treasurer of the East Central PA Two Cylinder Tractor Club.
William is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn; children, Carolee wife of David Fegley, William B. Lagler and wife Cheryl, Russell Lagler and wife Pamela, James Lagler and wife Irene, Elizabeth wife of Randy Schmeltzle, Rebecca Townsend, Jonathan Lagler and wife Dana, and Jennifer Swartzwelder; grandchildren, Elliott Fegley (Kelly), Zachary Fegley (Megan), Taylor, Jarrett (Mattie), Russell (Jennifer), Laura Frederick (Matthew), Nathan, Cody Schmeltzle (Paige), Austin Schmeltzle, Gabriel Schmeltzle (Morgan), Caleb Schmeltzle (Tara), Ethan Schmeltzle, Anneliese Schmeltzle, Cree Townsend, Finn Swartzwelder, and Leo Swartzwelder; 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Fri., March 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Rd., Allentown, PA 18103. Viewing Thurs., March 28, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Fri. 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Western Salisbury Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church at the above address or to the Allentown Rescue Mission, 355 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18101.
