March 16, 1934 – November 14, 2020
William Ernest Althouse, 86, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2020. He was born March 16, 1934 in Allentown. He was reunited with his wife and high school sweetheart the late Betty (Toth) Althouse. They were married 49 wonderful years. He was the son of the late Virginia (Smith) Althouse and the late Harold Althouse. Bill was a proud, devoted, and loving family man. He touched many lives with his kindness, generosity, thoughtful and caring nature. His intuitive imagination, knowledge, and sense of humor was admired and respected. He was a spiritual man, a healer, with a heart of gold, a passion for life. Bill was a 1952 graduate of William Allen High School. He continued his education at Newark College of Engineering, Community College and Technical Institute in Allentown. His career spanned many decades. Bill retired in 1996 after 40 years at Buckeye Pipeline as a draftsman. He later enjoyed driving limousine for J & J Transportation for several years. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, served as an usher, was a member on church council and supported the Unity ministry. He was a volunteer ambulance driver for Eastern Salisbury Twsp. Ambulance Corp., a member of The American Society of Dowsers, The American Society of Inventors, Lehigh County Senior Citizens, an entrepreneur and an inventor. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, genealogy, astronomy, homeopathy, gardening, antiquing, dowsing, and inventing.
Survivors: son, Jeffrey, Sr., wife, Lois of Macungie, daughter, Melody Althouse of Wescosville, son, Erik of Hamburg, daughter, Jennifer (Althouse) Love, husband, Ron of Gilbert, Arizona; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sister, Betty (Althouse) Goebert of Coopersburg, brother, Charles of Germansville.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Assoc., The American Diabetes Assoc. or Hospice of The Lehigh Valley in William's name. Arrangements by Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
