Wayne I. Schlegel Wayne I. Schlegel, 87, of Emmaus, died June 11, 2011 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of Gloria E. (Adams) Schlegel. Born in Topton, he was the son of the late Irwin and Clara (Heiter) Schlegel. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. He retired from Contel as customer service manager in Emmaus after 391/2 years. He was a member of St. Johns UCC, Emmaus where he served on consistory as deacon, elder and past president. He also chaired several building additions for the church. Wayne was past president of the Emmaus Lions Club, Keystone State Chapter ITPA, and Bertha Blair ITPA Club. He was Past Master of Emmaus Masonic Lodge #792 and past president and member of the Emmaus Zoning Board. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Survivors: Loving wife Gloria; Daughter, Cindi wife of Dr. Robert J. OHara, Jr. of Macungie; Son, W. Douglas Schlegel and wife Julie of Woodlands, TX; Brothers, Grant Schlegel and wife Mae of Kutztown, Rayneld Schlegel and wife Viola of Vestal, NY; Grandchildren, Rory, Garrett, Tia and Cody. Services: Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. John's UCC 139 N. 4th Street, Emmaus 18049. Calling hours 9:30 to 11:00 am in the church. Emmaus Lions Club and Emmaus Masonic services will be held prior to the service. Burial in Northwood Cemetery Emmaus following the service.
