Kleinschuster
January 24, 1929 – August 22, 2021
Walter G. Kleinschuster, 92, of Whitehall, died peacefully Aug. 22, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice. He was the husband of Mary F. "Mitzi" (Riemer) Kleinschuster. Born in Myersville, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Ida (Muick) Kleinschuster. Walter owned and operated Walter's Shoe Service in Allentown for over 50 years, retiring in 2003. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, worked the festival, helped in the kitchen for bingo, and was the "toastmaster". He was a life member of Fullerton Fire Company and Coplay Saengerbund. He was a former member of the Allgemeiner Club and the Hari Gari Club. Walter was an accordion player and played at the Edelweis in Northampton. He accompanied Joe Weber. He enjoyed woodworking and displayed his birdhouses at local craft shows. Above all, Walter loved his family.
Walter is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mitzi; son, W. Scott Kleinschuster and companion Bernetta of Orefield; daughter, Maryann wife of Frank Reisinger of Allentown; grandsons, David Reisinger and wife Sabrina and Sean Kleinschuster and wife Angela; great grandchildren, Winston and Summer; sisters-in-law, Pearl Hahn, Kay Kleinschuster, and Terry Riemer; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Frank Kleinschuster and sisters, Ida Paukovitz and Cecelia Haftl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., Sept. 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1046 West Cedar St., Allentown, PA 18102. Private interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walter's name may be made to his church.
