Walter L. Bortz, 94, of Lower Macungie Twp., died Feb. 1, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital.  He was the husband of Jean E. (Kale) Bortz.  Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Daniel E. and Sarah (Adams) Bortz.  He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII.  He worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad for 21 years and later worked as a diesel mechanic for MoPak in Souderton until retiring in 1989.  He was a member of St. Peter's Union Church.

Walter is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jean; daughter, Brenda widow of Frederick Hirschel of Macungie; brother, Howard Bortz and wife Shirley of Emmaus; grandchildren, James and Korey; great granddaughter, Brittney.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
