Ruth A. Ehrig, 78, of Emmaus, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 3rd at LVHN Hopsice. She was the wife of the late Dr. Philip L. Ehrig, Sr. Born in Tamaqua to the late Charles "Sam" and Dorothy "Tilly" Ghares, she graduated valedictorian of her high school class and attended Pottsville School of Nursing. She was a charter member of the Dual Valley Recreation Association. She loved playing cards, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and to read. She volunteered for many years at the Emmaus Public Library.

Survivors: She is survived by Son, Dr. Philip L. Ehrig and wife Catherine; Son, Charles Ehrig; Son, Dr. Michael Ehrig and wife Dr. Susan Tallick; Son, Robert Ehrig and wife Jennifer; Daughter, Nora Ehrig; Grandchildren, Philip John, Colleen, Peter, Molly, Bridget, Tait, McKenna and Kelly.

Services: A memorial service will be held on  Tues., Jan. 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Visitation 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, Ruth asked that contributions be made to the Emmaus Public Library.
