IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth E.
Chapman
October 7, 1921 – August 24, 2018
Ruth E. Chapman, 96, of Allentown, joined her beloved husband, Walter L. Chapman in heaven on August 24, 2018 in St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown. Ruth was one of four daughters born to Melvin and Mary (Liptack) Evans. She was preceded in death by two of her sisters and their husbands; Lorna beloved wife of Paul J. Baker and Arlene "Honey" Brehm and her beloved husband John Brehm, Jr. Ruth was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, serving on the buildings and grounds committee, former member of the U.C.C. Consistory, and was a longtime secretary of the cemetery. She volunteered over 20,000 hours in the gift shop at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown. Ruth and Walt traveled frequently to Mexico, many different states, and the islands, but their most treasured times were their walks together in the parks with their beloved dog, Squigger. Although Ruth waited 26 years, she enjoyed traveling with her niece to places in Great Brittan and Europe. She would often say how she wished her Wally could be seeing the sights and sailing down the Themes to Windsor Castle.
Ruth is survived by her niece, MaryLou (Brehm) Buchman and her husband Lenny and their sons, Shawn and Thomas and their grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, and Sydney, who adored their Aunt Ruthie.
Funeral Services will be held on Wed., August 29, 2018 at 11:00 in Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, PA 18103. Viewing 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Western Salisbury Cemetery. Schantz Funeral home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or one's favorite charity in memory of Ruth. Ruth's family wished to thank Rev. Donald Brown, Rev. Samantha Drennan, Linda Held, Tom Lichtenwalner, and the people at the gift shop at St. Luke's Allentown, especially Kelly for all of her comfort and Selina and Rita for being Aunt Ruthie's friend.
