Ruth G. Barker Ruth G. Barker, 71, of Emmaus, formerly of Woodbridge, England died on Thursday, January 20th, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late John J. Barker and daughter of the late Charles and Gwendoline Dutton. Born in Preston, Lancashire, England in 1939, she attended the Taunton Hospital Nursing College graduating with High Honors in 1961. In 1962, she was presented to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth on behalf of the Royal College of Nursing in acknowledgement of her academic and nursing achievements. An outstanding athlete, she excelled on a national level in High Hurdles and Junior Womens Tennis. Her nursing career included The Musgrave Park Hospital in Taunton, England where she was awarded Nurse of the Year five years running. She also served as a Visiting District nurse in Woodbridge, England. Emigrating to the United States in 1979, she continued her nursing career; starting with the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center Emergency Room and ending with 18 years at The Heart Care Group. She retired in 2008. She is survived by her sons Timothy and wife Irene of Las Vegas, NV, Antony and wife Marie-Claire of New York City, and Jonathan and wife Tanya also of New York City. Brother Peter Dutton and wife Hazel of Bristol, England and sister, Sara Fowler and her husband Martin of N.W. Dordogne, France and her Grandsons John, Justin and Jack. Services will be held 1:00pm on Thursday, January 27th at St. Annes Episcopal Church, 6667 Lower Macungie Road, Trexlertown. Arrangements by Schantz Funeral Home, Inc. of Emmaus.
