Roger H. Mayes, 87, formerly of Macungie, died Aug. 31, 2021 in Devon House, where he was well liked and well taken care of.  He was the husband of the late Carol Ann (Jarrett) Mayes.  Born in the Panama Canal Zone, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ruth (Harding) Mayes.  Roger honorably served his country in the Marine Corps.  He was a police officer for the Allentown Police Department for 20 years, worked as a detective for 4 years, and was a postal worker in Brewster, MA until retiring.

Roger is survived by his children, Terri Mongiello, Scott Mayes, Valerie "Lollie" Smith, Ruth Swoyer, Jeffrey Mayes, and Jacqueline Manz; sister, Barbara wife of Francis Trentalange; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his twin brother, Bryce Mayes on Aug. 13, 2021 and brother, Gerald Mayes.

A graveside service will be held on Fri., Sept. 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM in Highland Memorial Park, 1441 Roth Ave., Allentown.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
