Robert Joshua Shaffer Barette, 90, of Macungie, died peacefully in his sleep June 3, 2023.  He was the husband of Sandra L. (Sweeney) Barette.  Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Harold C. and Mildred M. (Shaffer) Barette.  He honorably served his country in the US Army during Korea.  Bob was a lifelong skier, beginning skiing in 1939 at the age of 7 and continued for 79 years taking his last run in 2019.  He joined the National Ski Patrol in 1958 and was an active member for over 50 years.  In addition to skiing, he loved golf, working in the garden, swimming, trips to the beach, sitting in the sun and time with friends and family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra; son, Andre Barette and husband Alex Domeracki; daughter, Heather (Barette) wife of Ross Cannady; grandchildren, Riley and Dane Cannady.

A Celebration of life with military honors will be held on Sat., June 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
