Robert J. Getts (Pop-Pop fix), 86 of Allentown, passed away peacefully early in the morning of Saturday, November 26, 2016 with his son Joseph by his side. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Getts of Ashland, PA. Robert was born in Scranton, PA in 1930, and moved to Allentown as a young boy. After graduating Allen High School, Robert went on to serve Active Duty in The Korean War from 1949 to 1953, where he became Sergeant. Robert eventually settled in Bethlehem, PA where he worked at Bethlehem Steel as a subcontractor for Heckett, which provided engineering and welding services. Robert loved helping people with all odd jobs which needed to be done, whether car repairs to designing wood burning stoves to heat homes, he was a very giving and generous man. He was a gun collector and hunter, and loved animals of all kinds.

Survivors: Step son Richard Freiler of Easton, and his former wife Cindy Slight-Freiler of Easton, Step daughter Mary Beth (Mazie) and husband Michael McHale of Bethlehem Twp., Son, Joseph R. Getts and life partner, Raymond J. Marchini of Macungie, PA. Also, Grandchildren, Scott and wife Amanda, Brett, Derek and wife Kara Freiler, Daniel and wife Benni Amato. He also had 7 wonderful Great Grandchildren.

Services: Memorial Services with military honors Fri., Dec. 2, 2016 at 12 Noon in Bethlehem Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1851 Linden St., Bethlehem. Visitation 11:00 to 12 Noon in the mausoleum. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
