Rita H. Blyler, 88, formerly of Emmaus, died July 25, 2023 in Luther Crest. She was the loving wife of George E. Blyler. Born in Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Iobst) Fisher.  She graduated from Emmaus High School and East Stroudsburg University, where she was a basketball player. She was a gym teacher at Northwestern High School and Emmaus High School and later worked in human resources for Buckeye Pipeline until retiring in 1994.  Rita was a lifelong active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus.  She was also a member and past president of the Emmaus Lioness Lions Club.  Above all, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Rita is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; daughter, Kathy wife of Tom Kriz; sons, Scott Blyler and wife Georgette, Rick Blyler and wife Kathy, and David Blyler and wife Maem; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by siblings, Joyce, Violet, and Carson.

Memorial and Lions Club services will be held on Sat., July 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, PA 18049.  Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.  Private interment will be in Northwood Cemetery.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. John's Lutheran Church.
