Obituary

Rev. Richard A. Nelson, 70, of Allentown, formerly of Hamilton Twp., NJ, went home to be with the Lord January 7, 2017 in Fellowship Manor. He was the husband of Jean M. (Singley) Nelson. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Archie R. and Shirley A. (Himes) Nelson. He was a graduate of Gordon College, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Princeton Theological Seminary. He was an Orthodox Presbyterian pastor serving Caney Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Caney, KS for 6 years and Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Trenton, NJ for 32 years, retiring in 2009. He attended Trinity Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Easton. He was a member of the Board of Directors at French Creek Bible Conference, member of the NJ Presbytery of the Orthodox Presbyterian, and was a Friend of the Library, Hamilton NJ. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."

Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Jean; Son, Jeremy A. Nelson (Deborah) of Wyoming, PA; Daughters, Abigail Ruth Smith (Jeffrey) of Allentown and Bethany LaFleur (David) of St. Joseph, MI; Sister, Janice C. Nelson of North Redington Beach, FL; 11 Grandchildren.

Services: Funeral Service Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Trinity Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 531 Milford St., Easton, PA 18045. Viewing 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Western Salisbury Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C. Emmaus is handling arrangements.
