Richard G. Bartholomew Richard G. Bartholomew, 78, of Emmaus, died March 12, 2011 in Valley Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of Elaine B. (Dreas) Bartholomew. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in June 2010. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Martha I. (Covely) Bartholomew. He worked for General Machine Corp. for 43 years beginning as a machinist and then serving as C.E.O. from 1982 to 1993. After retiring, he worked for the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc. and as a shuttle driver for Kelly Buick. He was a member of Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville, having served on church council and the cemetery board. He was a member of the Emmaus Ambulance Corps for 25 years, member of the Emmaus Lions Club serving as President in 1983, Tail Twister, and for many years at Christmas, he would assume the role of Santa Claus. He was a member of the Macungie Fire Company. He was a former board member for the Friends of the 1803 House and the Emmaus Chamber of Commerce. Survivors: Wife; Sons, Dale R. Bartholomew and wife Annette of Macungie and David B. Bartholomew and wife Denise of Columbus, SC; Daughters, Ardyth A. wife of Jonathan Bare of Pasadena, TX and Lori K. wife of Gary Adams of North Catsauqua; Brother, Frederick E. Bartholomew and wife Sandra of Allentown; Sister, Gladys A. wife of Russell Ruth of Daytona Beach, FL; 10 Grandchildren. Services: Funeral and Lions Club Services Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville. Viewing 12:30 to 2:00 PM in the church. Interment will follow in Zions Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
