Obituary

Regina E. "Betty" DeVries, 94, of Emmaus, died Jan. 24, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late Paul E. DeVries.  Born in South Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucy (MacVane) Brady.  Betty worked for Emmaus Manufacturing for 24 years, retiring in 1977.  After retirement, she worked for the former Althouse's Butcher Shop.  She was a member of St. John's U.C.C., Emmaus.  Betty was a volunteer for 28 years at Lehigh Valley Hospital, was a member of the Emmaus Historical Society, Girl Scout leader for many years, member of Mack Retirees, where she loved to play bingo, and a member of the McDonald's coffee group which met every morning.  She loved crossword puzzles, reading, playing pinochle, and traveling.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan G. wife of Thomas Snyder of Emmaus; grandchildren, Donna M. wife of Craig Waterman, Elizabeth wife of Bryan Cosby, and Hollie wife of Wyatt Genser; great grandchildren, Kevin, Hannah, Sarah Jane, Rian, Liam, Gavin, Michaela, and Finnegan.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara A. Althouse; 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Tue., June 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. John's U.C.C., 139 N. 4 th St., Emmaus, PA 18049.  Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.  Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's U.C.C. Building Fund.
