Philip D. Prechtel Philip D. Prechtel, 63, of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Emmaus, died suddenly January 18, 2008. He was the husband of Katherine Ann (Warren) Prechtel. They celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in July 2007. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Arthur T. and Gertrude (Keiper) Prechtel and stepson of the late Pauline (Fries) Prechtel. He was a 1962 graduate of Emmaus High School and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for PPL Corp., retiring in June of 2002 as a Senior Engineer. He was a member of St. Johns U.C.C., Emmaus. He was thrilled to be a jazz saxophonist in the Stardust Orchestra, Hilton Head. He was a member of Moss Creek Golf and Tennis Club, where he was an avid golfer and competitive team tennis player. Survivors: Wife; Son, Dr. Douglas S. Prechtel and wife Karen and granddaughter, Abigail of Concord, NC; Daughter, Kristin L. Prechtel, Esquire of Erie; Brother, Jeff C. Prechtel and Jan of Emmaus, PA; Sisters, Nancy G. wife of Ronald Schappell of Emmaus, Adele J. wife of James Schaffer of Macungie, and Deborah A. wife of Dennis Defrain of Emmaus; Aunt, Ruth V. Richards of Emmaus; Cousin, Cindy J. wife of John Meyer of Branchville, NJ; Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by aunt and uncle, Myrtle and Robert Thomas and uncle, Lawrence C. Richards.
