IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter S.
Schneck
November 19, 1948 – February 24, 2024
Peter S. Schneck passed away on February 24, 2024 at his home in Allentown, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Allentown on November 19, 1948. His parents were Samuel B. Schneck and Dorothy H. Goundie Schneck.
He grew up in Allentown and graduated from William Allen High School in 1966. He graduated from Allentown Community College in 1967 and from Lehigh Community College in 1969. He transferred to Spring Gardens College, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Technology (B.S.T.) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.
In 1969, Pete met his wife, Marian T. Volak, of 51 years. In 1974, they started a family of their own with the birth of their daughter, Faith Samantha Schneck (Fillman). Pete's favorite role was that of being Pop Pop to Alexis Michele Fillman born in 2004. He treasured his time visiting Alexis in Texas and Colorado, watching her cheer at competitions and football games, and taking her to Disney World.
In 1978, Pete started his PP&L career working for Armitage. He then became a PP&L employee in Allentown, PA in 1982, working as a Draftsman. He retired after a 28-year career with PP&L as a Senior Electrical Design Drafter in 2010.
Pete started Boy Scouts at eight years old. He obtained the Eagle Rank, Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, and his God and Country Award. He served as a staff member at Trexler Scout Reservation from 1964 to 1971, including his roles as Assistant Field Sports Director for five summers and Field Sports Director for one summer.
Pete had a soft spot for dogs, particularly long-haired dachshunds, including Snoopy, Cleo and Obi Wan Kenobi. Their first family dog was a poodle named Missy. He treated each one of them like a family member.
He enjoyed tent camping, building N-gauge train displays, watching Science Fiction movies, attending Penn State football games, going to Walt Disney World (just 27 times [184 days]), and serving others.
During Faith's childhood, he was a band parent chaperone and on the band pit crew (including as the renowned tractor driver). For seven years, he was also a Girl Scout leader where he was known as Sir Pete (and still is).
Pete was an active member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, devoting extensive time and energy to the church member picture wall and the IT needs of the church staff. He also enjoyed teaching catechism (CAT) classes, leading at several CAT camps, and attending two national youth conventions, making a difference in the youth's spiritual lives.
Pete and his friends and family were inseparable throughout their lives. Picnics and reunions were plentiful. He enjoyed his continued relationships with his brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and honorary family members. He maintained close friendships with childhood neighbors and schoolmates, band members and parents, girl scouts, co-workers, community and church members, youth pastors, church youth and their parents, and many more.
He is survived by his caring wife Marian, daughter Faith and husband Eric Paul Fillman, granddaughter Alexis, Brother James F. Schneck and wife Jan Eickmeier. Pete is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
