Paul S. Fichter of Lehighton, PA passed away on June 20, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1945 in New Jersey and soon moved with his family to Emmaus, PA where he spent his formative years. He especially enjoyed playing on the Emmaus High School football team where he bonded for life with several of his teammates. After time at Moravian College, he was drafted into the Army and spent a year of his service in Vietnam during the height of the Vietnam War. He maintained a life time friendship with close army veterans. After returning to civilian life, he became very active in the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and Vets for Peace. He came back a changed person for the rest of his life. Paul was self-employed for most of his life and moved to the mountains after the passing of his mother, Muriel Fichter. He was a dedicated care giver to Muriel during her last years. He was at peace in his mountain home living a fairly isolated life, much to his liking. He often volunteered at Forgotten Felines & Fidos, Inc. He is survived by his brother Bruce and his wife Pat, Nephew Mark Fichter and Niece Shannon Fichter and her two children Zach and Kacey. A small celebration of life is planned in the future. Donations in remembrance of Paul can be made to Forgotten Felines & Fidos, Inc. in Germansville, PA.
