Patricia "Pat" Lee Ryan, 77, of Boise, ID, died unexpectedly on Dec. 29, 2025 at her daughter's home in Pennsylvania while visiting for the holidays.   Born in Chicago, IL, on January 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Richard E. and Jeanne E. (Kobeluch) Bowne. She graduated from Conant High School despite consistently getting excused from class for excessive talking.

Shortly after graduating, she started her family and raised four children.  Family vacations were taken often.  During family gatherings, her children often reminisce about how much fun they had in Silver Dollar City, Lake of the Ozarks, Hawaii, and Florida.  Pat once told her kids she was part of the Tommy Barlett Water Show in the Wisconsin Dells. Prior to their vacation to the Dells, she purchased a postcard and addressed it to herself from Tommy Barlett.  With proof in hand, she told her kids "See!  That's me!  Right there on top of the pyramid!"

She enjoyed a successful career as a project manager for LaSalle Partners, Johnson Controls, Herman Miller, and Harley Davidson.  She was delighted that her work often required travel.  Some of her favorite solo trips included Singapore, Vietnam, China, the U.K., and France.

Pat was always adventurous and loved to travel.  Her sense of adventure started when she was young enjoying summers with her cousins on their farm in Michigan.

Although too many to mention, a few highlights of her travels include a glider tour into the Grand Canyon with her father, a trip to Ireland with her grandson Daniel, and an Alaskan cruise with her granddaughter Bekah.  An African Safari with her daughter Katie, Tennessee with Karen and David, Mexico with her daughter Kelly, Scotland, Ireland, and England with her son Michael.  Of course, there were many visits to Chicago and Pennsylvania to spend time with two of her daughters.  Just this year she enjoyed trips to New Hampshire, Maine, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

In her many adventures, Pat took the Queen Elizabeth II from London to New York for the Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty.  She was looking forward to looking up to the Statue of Liberty, but the ship was so big, she was surprised when she had to look down at Lady Liberty.

She took the supersonic Concorde from New York to London, noting that she could see the curvature of the Earth.

Even after death, Pat will continue to travel.  Three generations will scatter her ashes around the world as they travel.  One request Pat had for her children, was she wanted them to send some of her ashes soaring over the top of Yellowstone Falls.

Pat was an avid reader, and she always had a book in hand.  She enjoyed her book clubs with friends, as well as meeting with her Ladies Club every month.  She loved playing games, laughing, and sharing stories around the table after dinner.  Other, more guilty pleasures included driving too fast, racing, blowing stop signs, juicy tidbits of gossip, chocolate, caffeine free diet Pepsi, and McDonald's breakfast sandwiches.

Pat loved music, and she listened to everything from Niel Diamond to Billy Idol.  Her home was filled with music, and if you ever had the pleasure of hearing her sing, you would know her external voice didn't match her internal voice, and she was always about 2 seconds behind with the lyrics…but Pat thought she sounded like an angel.  She enjoyed musicals and plays and regularly attended The Shakespeare's Festival with the Scobby's at Boise's outdoor venue.  Pat often enjoyed dinner and musicals with her son and daughter in law at The Morrison Center, also in Boise.

Pat was everyone's confidant.  She took phone calls from everyone, anytime, for any reason.  Offering support for whatever life was throwing your way.  She also enjoyed phone calls from her friends and loved ones just to say hi.  "What's the worst that can happen?"  was always a helpful insight and helped everyone put on a brave face to move forward.

Pat is survived by her children, Karen (David) Schauer, Kelly Connell, Katherine "Katie" Ryan (Brian), and Michael (Misty)  Ryan; grandchildren, David (Alexandra), Daniel, Rebekah, Joshua (Nicole), Jacob, James, MacKenzie, and Matthew (Michaela); great grandchildren, MacKenna, Jayce, David, Charlotte, and Jordan; brother, Peter Bowne; and beloved Havanese companion, Sophie.

She passed away doing the things she loved the most: traveling, spending time with family, relaxing with a good book, and creating new memories with her loved ones.
