Obituary

Michael J. Clark, 77 passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, April, 26, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Allentown, PA. Born August 1, 1939 in St. Martins, Wisconsin he was the son of the late Thomas and Cecilia (Grettinger) Clark. He and his loving wife, Darnelle Knowlton, were married in New Hampshire on January 13, 1968. Michael Graduated from South Milwaukee HS and then served in the US Navy for two years of active duty. He graduated from the university of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1964 with a degree in journalism. He answered the call of President Kennedy to once again serve his country, this time in the US Peace Corps. He met his future wife as they served as teachers in the Federal Republic of Cameroon. Michael began his journalism career in White Plains, NY eventually moving to the Philadelphia Inquirer as a reporter. He went on to work for Rodale Press and eventually began working for himself as a freelance photo journalist until his early retirement due to ill health in 2001. Michael then began his second career as a pet sitter which he enjoyed immensely. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He especially looked forward each year to his trip to "Fish Camp" with his son. He will be missed by all who knew him and his sense of humor and quick wit.

Survivors: Michael is survived by his wife of 49 years, his daughter Rebecca Clark Cole (David) of Wellesley, MA, and a son, Ethan Knowlton Clark (Kim) of Allentown, PA. He will be sadly missed by his three grandchildren, David, Sarah and Elizabeth Cole. In addition, he is survived by his two brothers, James Clark (Gemma) of Port Orange, FL and Timothy Clark (Judy) of Hanover, MI and many nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by a sister Geraldine Mamarow.

Services: A time of remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 29th at Noon in the Schantz Funeral Home. 250 Main Street Emmaus, PA 18049. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM.
