Obituary

Margaret O. Bradbury Margaret O. Bradbury, 89, longtime resident of Zionsville and Macungie, died on November 9, 2011 in Lehigh Commons. She was born in England to William and Lucy (Wills) Punchard, and lived in Kent in the town of Bickley until joining the British Army in WWII. While serving as an officer in Berlin during the war, she met her husband, William T. Bradbury, who was an officer with the US Army. Brad predeceased her in1975. Upon moving to Zionsville, Margot began with two pet sheep and, twenty-five years later, had the largest flock of sheep in Lehigh County. Rodale Press commissioned her to write a book about sheep called A Shepherd's Guidebook. Along the way, she raised Gordon setters and won several prizes in dog shows including Best in Breed at New York's Westminster Kennel Club show. She also found time to be a partner in a charity-oriented thrift shop in Emmaus, She served many years as a parent volunteer at The Swain School, becoming President of the Parents' Association; joining the Board of Trustees for several terms and finishing as its President. When her term was over the Board honored her by making her a life trustee. Recently the Swain's Board of Trustees chose her to receive the Trustees' Award in recognition of her many years of community service. Margot was very active in the Episcopal Church Women and for many years was on the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, an advisory body to the Bishop. A frequent delegate to local and national conventions, Margot was also named "Woman of the Year" in the Diocese. In addition, she was very active in the Lehigh County Farmers Association and in the Lehigh County Conservation District, ultimately serving as the President of that board as well. Margot's survivors include her son, Alan, and his wife Michelle Kaminsky; her daughter Margaret " Maggie" L. Werner wife of Andrew J. Werner; brother , Alan Punchard and niece Joanna Gutmann of England; granddaughters Megan Werner and Emily C. W. Knudson and her husband Howard; grandsons, John and Mark Bodkin; and six Great-Grandchildren. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church,150 Elm Street, Emmaus. Schantz Funeral Home, PC is handling arrangements.
