Mahlon E. Hariu, 79, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Emmaus, died June 19, 2018 at his residence.  He was the husband of Joanne D. (Schaffer) Hariu, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage.  Born in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Oscar H. Hariu and Virginia (Guss) Leas.  Mahlon worked as a technical sales representative for 3M for 31 years, retiring in 1995.  He honorably served his country in the Army.    He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Elizabethtown.  He was a member of Altemont Lodge #26 F&AM in West Peterborough, NH, member of Rajah Shrine, Reading, serving as Potentate in 2004, Oriental Band member, Secretary/Treasurer Emeritus of the International Association of Shrine Oriental Bands, and was a past member of the Philadelphia Boys Choir.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; Daughters, Jan Hariu of Seymour, CT and Karen Hariu of Falls Church, VA; Granddaughter, Nikki of Topton; Brother, Laird Hariu of Elizabethtown; Sisters, Ellen Sleeter of Maplewood, NJ and Joyce Moore of Macungie; 5 Nieces and Nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sun., June 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 125 East High Street, Elizabethtown.  Rev. Albert J. Domines, Jr., STS and Vicar W. L. Barnes, III will officiate.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
