Mabel Anna Heffner, 100, of Allentown, PA, formerly of Lower Macungie Township and Emmaus, passed away September 13, 2024. The daughter of Katie (Heller) and Lawson Hoch, Mabel was born in Fleetwood, PA and was married to Kenneth A. Heffner for 54 years until his death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by son Kenneth A Heffner, II of Emmaus, sisters Emeline, Ella, Kathrine and brother John. Mabel had a long history of church and community service working as a Girl Scout leader and with the Cub Scouts in Emmaus, teaching Bible School at St. John's Lutheran Church in Emmaus, greeting and teaching Bible School at Bethany United Methodist Church in Wescosville. In her later years she was a member of Morgenland Union Church in Orefield. She was active in the Emmaus Newcomers' Club, the Lower Macungie Senior Citizens, the AARP Lower Lehigh Chapter 4150, and the Woman's Club of Emmaus where she won numerous 1st and 2nd place awards for her sewing of clothing, quilts, dolls, and pillows. She also collected napkins and turtles from all over the world. Mabel was a world traveler who visited many of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii as well as Australia, New Zealand, and numerous countries in Europe. She also cruised through the Panama Canal. On one trip she visited a Moravian Church that her forefathers built in Basel, Switzerland. When not traveling Mabel was an avid bridge player and for many years enjoyed her vacation home at Lake Wynonah where she and her husband entertained family and friends. Mabel also enjoyed cooking and baking homemade pies.
Survivors: Daughter Sheila K Renner of Orefield, wife of Curtis Renner, son Dale K Heffner of Alburtis, husband of Rebecca Heffner, Daughter-in-law Kathy Heffner of Macungie; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services: Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, Hope Cemetery, Dryville, 16 Fleetwood Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
