Obituary

Lucille P. Breunig, 94, of Tamaqua and formerly of Emmaus, died August 6, 2017 in St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital.  Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Daisy (Anewalt) Schollenberger . She was a member Old Zionsville U.C.C.  She was a homemaker, business owner, and an accomplished musician, playing marimba.  She was taught by Dorothy Yoder Albright playing with the Yoder family doing evangelistic work.  And also played under Walter Marsh as a member of the Ju-Lu-Mar Marimba Trio.  She had the honor to play under Clair Omar Musser at the Chicago Marimba Symphony at Soldiers Field.  When she married she taught her children doing concerts as a family.  After going into business with her husband, Emmaus Schwinn Cyclery, her music was put on hold.  But after retiring from business, she started playing concerts again with her daughter Donna, doing over 1500 concerts over the US, including Alaska until her final concert at the age of 91.  She also had the honor of playing at and being recognized as a principal player at the International Marimba Festival Concert directed by Frederick Fenmel at West Point M.A., NY.  As much as Lucille loved her music, she was also an avid bowler, bowling in 2 leagues until her passing.  Lucille has also been a longtime member of the Bicentennial Chorus of Jim Thorpe.
