Lois J. Althouse, 89, formerly of Emmaus, died peacefully on Nov. 10, 2023 in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Henry A. Rooney, Walter H. Althouse, and companion of the late Anthony Timar. Born in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Esther (Geiger) Neimeyer. She was a 1952 graduate of Emmaus High School. Lois worked as a waitress and hostess and later was a deli clerk at Gabby's Market for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was proud of her family, and loved celebrating the Annual Geiger Reunion. Lois enjoyed making soups, cookies, and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. She enjoyed playing Canasta with her high school girlfriends for over 60 years. Above all, Lois loved people, especially her family. She loved traveling, especially to the seashore with family and bus trips with her sister Dolores.
Lois will be remembered by her children, Joanne wife of Richard Kunkle of Coopersburg, Dale Rooney of Anchorage, AK, Carol wife of Anthony Cipollone of Swan Point, MD, Barbara wife of Paul Eifler of St. Petersburg, FL, Teresa wife of Shezad Morani of Centerport, NY, and Mark Jackson and wife Sue of Widnes, UK; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother, Roger Flexer of Anna, TX; stepdaughters, Dana Sharkey and Cheryl Weidner. She was predeceased by brothers, Ernest "Bud" Neimeyer, Leon Neimeyer, and Ronald Neimeyer, and sisters, Myrtle Rose, Dolores Simmons, and Janice Valasquez.
Memorial services will be held on Sat., Dec. 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
