LeRoy J. Silvius, 77, formerly of Muhlenberg Twp., died Feb. 20, 2022 in Pennsburg Manor.  He was the widow of Phyllis J. Brown.  Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Erwin and Katherine (Bieber) Silvius.  He was a 1962 graduate of Emmaus High School.  As a teenager, he was a photographer at Nazareth Speedway, which started his love of racing.  He drove his 1957 Chevy in the Allentown Drag Races.  LeRoy was a mechanic, working for Brightbill and Kreitz and paid wrench for Dave Kelly Racing, winning 5 championships and URC mechanic of the year.  Later he worked at American Beverage and retired as a parts runner for Bob Fisher Chevrolet.  He also helped Ray and Aleia Geisler Racing.

LeRoy is survived by son, James R. Silvius and wife Ann E. Silvius of Coopersburg; grandson, Jeremy Silvius.  He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred D. Eck.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
