Lawrence J. Downey Lawrence J. Downey, 68, of Emmaus, died Nov. 7, 2008 in his residence. He was the husband of Rosemary J. (Gribbens) Downey. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in July 2008. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Lawrence P. and Lena (Maugle) Downey. He was a supervisor for True Value Hardware and later worked in the engineering department at Lehigh Valley Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 2003. He honorably served his country in the Army. Survivors: Wife; Sons, William Downey and wife Kristen of Wescosville and Lawrence J. Downey, Jr. and fiancée Valerie Peters of Jim Thorpe; Daughters, Michelle M. Downey-Ledford and husband Bob of Emmaus and Rosemary J. Downey of Emmaus; Brother, William Downey of Deptford, NJ and Wayne Brehmer of Philadelphia; 7 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson.
