Larry R. Stephen Larry R. Stephen, 69, of Allentown,formerly of Minesite, died September 27, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Claire A. (Bishop) Stephen. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in Oct 2008. Born in Minesite, he was the son of the late Alvin O. J. and Effie H. (Hilbert) Stephen. Larry graduated from Emmaus High School. He was a carpenter by trade working for the former Alvin O.J. Stephen Contracting. Subsequently he served as superintendent of building and grounds for the Allentown School District for many years. After retirement he worked for the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., Emmaus. He was a member of Brittany House, Inc, Macungie Golf League for 25 years, Allentown American Legion, Post 563, Emmaus VFW, Emmaus Mercantile Club, Cetronia Fire Co., American Club of Coplay and The Relay for Life and a past member of the Emmaus Lion's Club. Larry was a diehard Eagles and Philly's fan. He was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church. Survivors: Wife, Sons, Scott B. Stephen of Whitehall, Kirk W. Ketterer of Northampton, Daughters, Kim Leaver of Macungie, Karen L. wife of Michael Korpics of Northampton, Karla L. wife of Michael Lyle of Coplay; Brothers, Donald A. of Trexlertown, Alvin M. and wife Linda J.of Minesite; Sisters, Nancy L. Schwindenhammer of Minesite, Sheila K. wife of Robert Ehret, Jr. of Wescosville, Grandchildren: Joshua, Jay, Jessica, Melissa, Ryan, Brandon, Madison, Kallie, Bethany and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and Lloyd and sister, Barbara. Services: Funeral Services Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown. Viewing Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 PM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, PA and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the church.
