Obituary

Keith A. Muir, 62, of Emmaus, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Melanie D. (Landis) Muir.

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Keith was the son of the late Roland and Julie (Krupski) Muir. A son of the Canadian prairies, he grew up playing hockey, skiing, and boating on the lakes he loved, and he was never more at home than on the water, later sharing it with his own family at their coastal retreats. From a young age he chased what he wanted with a drive that never let up: obsessing over his sports cars, training with soldier-like discipline to build the physique of his movie heroes, Arnold & Sly, and pulling his closest friends into the gym to match his commitment. No one was harder on Keith than himself, and that drive carried him to everything that followed.

As a young man, Keith set his sights on California, and nothing was going to stop him. He first cut his teeth in Mazatlán, Mexico, selling timeshare condominiums, where he became a top seller and, at just 23, was running a ten-person team, his broken Spanish finding its legs along the way. In California he landed at one of the country's largest Corvette dealerships and, a natural-born salesman, was soon its top performer, before carrying that drive into finance as a regional manager with Wells Fargo. The birth of his first son, Michael, only sharpened his ambition. Impeccably dressed and unmistakable in any room, Keith had long dreamed of a California soulmate, his “Malibu Barbie,” and in Melanie that dream took shape; they married in 2007, and the life he had always imagined began.

Keith's love of cooking came from his mother, and he carried her gift for entertaining forward, trading recipes with friends and treating everyone at his table like family. He demanded the best of everything, the best food, wines, cigars, and cars, and having grown from meager beginnings, he shared that good fortune freely while taking pride in the family and home he had always dreamed of. He brought energy into every room and had a gift for lifting people when they were down, and he kept a young man's curiosity, always current on the latest fashion, trends, and music, forever eager to share his newest favorite artists with anyone who would listen.

A tremendous storyteller and self-professed comedian, Keith had no use for boredom; he kept life in constant motion and loved nothing more than making people laugh, and the friends who could make him laugh in return. Anyone who felt his infectious laugh, his Hollywood smile, or a word of his praise can attest it would take days to come back down to earth, and he did whatever it took to make his guests feel special. He had an unrivaled need for speed and a love of anything with an engine: motocross in California's Saddleback Mountains, sand rails in the dunes of Glamis, quads, Harleys at the Sturgis rally, jet skis, and sports cars. There wasn't a machine he couldn't master, and he was happiest with his pals along for the ride, the last to leave any celebration and never wanting the night to end.

Above all, Keith's greatest joy was his family. He boasted endlessly of his wife and children, who were the reason behind everything he did and drove him to work ever harder to give them the life he had not had. When Keith moved from California to Pennsylvania, he returned to the auto business, his roots, where his natural gift for leadership quickly carried him to Vice President and General Manager of the Star Car dealerships in Easton, inspiring the people around him to be better at what they did. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, a member of the Lehigh Country Club, a member and past president of GLVADA, and a member of the NCM 20 Group.

In the end, Keith met his final battle with the same determination he brought to everything else, refusing to give in. Those fortunate enough to share that time with him remain astonished at his resilience. Through it all, it was his deep love for his family, his zest for life, and his renewed faith that kept him standing longer than any man could have endured. He fought for every day, right up to the last.

Keith is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Melanie; sons, Michael Muir and wife Meghan and Landon Edward Muir; daughter, Mia Elizabeth Muir; grandchildren, Matina and Miranda; brother, Greg Muir and wife Tina; sister, Jean Muir; and his nieces and nephews, Maria, Julia, Jesse, Danielle, and Jaime. He was predeceased by his mother and father and brother, Jaime Muir.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., July 17, 2026 at 12 Noon in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexor Ave., Allentown. Visitation 10:00 to 12 Noon in the church. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
