Karl J. Schuster Karl J. Schuster, 92, of Emmaus, died Feb. 28, 2011 in Cedarbrook. He was the husband of Fern M. (Hensinger) Schuster. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in Feb. 2011. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Stephen and Julia (Jaindl) Schuster. He, along with his wife, owned and operated the Vera Cruz Hotel from 1953 to 1971. He played baseball in the Lehigh Valley and East Penn League and also managed the Emmaus Legion. He played for the Vera Cruz Ramblers and managed the Limeport Baseball Team. He was a life member of Emmaus Fire Co. #2, the Vera Cruz Fire Company, the former Emmaus Nest of Owls, and Upper Milford Field & Stream. He was a member of the Tall Maples Hunting Club, the Emmaus American Legion, the Emmaus Vets, and a member of TPA. He honorably served his country in the Navy during WWII. Survivors: Wife; Son, Lee K. Schuster and wife Donna of Dushore; Daughters, Sylvia A. Dech of Macungie, Vickie S. wife of Thomas Fegley of Emmaus, and Cindy L. Schuster of Emmaus; Brothers, William Schuster and wife Charlotte of Macungie and Elmer Schuster and wife Lillia of Whitehall; Sister-in-Laws, Nancy Schuster of Emmaus and Faith Schuster of Macungie; 16 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 15 Great Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Karl J. Schuster, Jr., grandson, Marc Schuster, 2 brothers and a sister. Services: Funeral Services Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Viewing 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
