Kala Marie
Dawson
March 10, 1997 – June 15, 2026
Kala Marie Dawson, 29, of Alburtis, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family after living courageously with cancer.
Born in Allentown, Kala was the beloved daughter of Christopher E. Dawson and Amy M. (McNamee) Dawson. A 2015 graduate of Emmaus High School, she later attended Lehigh Carbon Community College to pursue a degree in nursing, reflecting her caring nature and desire to help others.
Above all else, Kala was a mother. Her greatest joy, deepest love, and proudest accomplishment was her son, Cooper James Dawson. Every decision she made and every battle she fought was driven by her love for him. The bond they shared was extraordinary, and he remained the light of her life through every season.
Kala had a gentle spirit and a compassionate heart. She loved animals, found peace in nature, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She had a beautiful smile, a kind soul, and a way of making others feel cared for and understood. Those who knew her will remember her strength, her resilience, her sense of humor, and the fierce love she carried for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kala is survived by her son, Cooper James Dawson.
Siblings Sarah Ellen, Donavan James and Jordan Gary.
Her maternal grandparents, Michael and Catherine McNamee and Dan and Nelda Dwyer and her paternal grandfather, Edward Dawson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to those who survive her, Kala was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Judith M. Dawson, her birth father, William Joseph Slonaker, Sr., her brothers, Anthony Michael Hart and Joseph Ryan Hart, and her beloved niece, Lillian River Slonaker.
A Celebration of Kala's Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM at Lockridge Park in Alburtis. Family and friends are invited to dress casually and join together to share memories, stories, and love in honor of Kala's life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049, to assist with Cooper's education fund.
Though her time here was far too short, Kala's love, courage, and spirit will live on in all who knew her—especially in the son she loved beyond measure.
