John P. Washburn, 79, of Emmaus, died May 10, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Renate (Scharfe) Washburn.  Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William H. and Grace E. (McMullen) Washburn.  He honorably served his country in the Army in Germany and Vietnam.  John was a self-employed salesman.  He enjoyed going to ball games, fishing, and especially spending time in Florida.  He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Allentown, Pa, the American Legion, and a volunteer at the VA outreach center in Coatesville, Pa.

John is survived by his loving wife, Renate; sons, Michael Jay and wife Holly of Easton and Mark Kevin and wife Stephanie of Whitehall; grandsons, Jared Michael and Sean Nikolas; brother, Peter and wife Carol of Slatedale.  He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy, Joseph, Billy and Erwin.

Memorial services with military honors will be held on Sat., May 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Visitation 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
