John R. Shannon John R. Shannon, 86, formerly of Emmaus, died July 11, 2010 the Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the widower of the late Marion G. (Pritchard) Shannon. Born in Smiths Ferry, Glasgow Twp., he was the son of the late Ruth (Wilson) and John R. Shannon, Sr. He worked as a claims examiner and regional manager for Stuyvesant Insurance Company and later Erie Insurance Company, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Margarets Episcopal Church, Emmaus. He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII. Survivors: Son, James R. Shannon and wife Susan of Perkiomenville; Daughters, Rebecca wife of Dennis Silvert of Emmaus and Kathleen Shannon Koehn of Lenhartsville; Sister, Kathleen Kelly of Wellsville, OH; 4 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel J. Shannon. Services: Memorial Services Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Friends may call 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Solomons Union Cemetery, Macungie.
