Gaspar
August 7, 1952 – November 16, 2021
John R. Gaspar, 69, of Allentown passed away on Tuesday November 16 th , 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. He was born August 7 th , 1952 to Marie A. (Panik) and the late John J. Gaspar, and was the beloved husband of Constance (Brucker) Gaspar. They celebrated 43 years of marriage in April 2020.
John grew up in the East Side of Allentown and graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School. A member of the varsity basketball team, John scored over 1,000 points during his high school career and was inducted into the Rockne Wall of Fame. He went on to attend Villanova University with a full scholarship, where he was a member of the Wildcat basketball team from 1970-1974. After graduating from Villanova, John was employed at the Stroh Brewing Company located in Fogelsville, PA where he was a supervisor for 25 years. After his time at Stroh, John spent several years working at the PA Wine and Spirits stores.
John was the heart and soul of our family, and family meant everything to him. He had a personality to match his stature. His warmth, sense of humor, and generosity made every family get-together feel like a holiday. He enjoyed annual beach vacations at Ocean City, Maryland, with family, and golf outings with his sons and many friends. John was a man of many interests. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, and cooking, and was a passionate sports fan. John loved Philadelphia sports, rarely missing an Eagles game, and looked forward all year to March Madness. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who always put the happiness of those around him before his own. He will be dearly missed, and with us always.
John is survived by his loving wife, Connie (Brucker) Gaspar; his mother, Marie A. Gaspar; his sister, Rosemarie A. (Gaspar) Shadle and her husband James P. Shadle; his two sons Luke W. Gaspar and Eric J. Gaspar and his wife Sara E. (Shields) Gaspar; and his three grandchildren: Claire, Adam, and Ethan Gaspar.
Calling hours will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Emmaus, PA 18049 on Sunday, November 21 st , 2021 with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, John would like nothing more than for his friends to celebrate a Manhattan toast in his honor.
