Obituary

Joanne P. Hartman, 70, of Alburtis, died peacefully on August 31st, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital whilst she was lovingly supported by family through her fast and furious battle with cancer.

Joanne was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and wife to her late husband, Kenneth Hartman. Though we would say Joanne lost her battle to cancer, the word lost is used, but truly, she has gained. She is reunited with lost loved ones and her lord and savior. She is joyfully whole in heaven. It is all of us here that have truly lost a beautiful soul.

Joanne is one who gave without hesitation, loved beyond measure and smiled enough to light up a room. She was always kind, always gentle and knew just what to say to make everything okay. There will never be enough words to express how much she will be missed.

Joanne was born in Bryn Mawr, PA to a large family that included her six loving sisters and three amazing brothers. In a family of ten children, you learn how to love big and also that struggles come with large gains. She has passed down those incredible family values to her children.

Joanne so enjoyed being a grandmother to her four grandchildren, Miles (8), Alexander (6), Lily (6) and Leiya (2). She was the most amazing MiMi and Nai Nai. She was a widow, who lost the love of her life in 2018 to his battle with cancer. Their love was unmatched and she has missed him beyond measure since they have been apart, now reunited! She is survived by her two children, Daughter, Jennifer Moccia and Son in law, Kyle Moccia of Knoxville, TN and Son, Michael Hartman and daughter in law, Jingwen Hartman of Hazlet, NJ. Brothers, Edward McIlmoyle, Denver, PA, William McIlmoyle, Landenberg, PA, Sisters, Eleanor Weber, Williamsburg, VA, Deborah Donaghy, Shawnee, Kansas. She was preceded by her late husband, Kenneth Hartman of Alburtis, PA, Brother, David McIlmoyle, of West Chester, PA and Sister, Peggy Resnick, of Millsboro, DE, Mickey DeFeo of Mays Landing, NJ, Janet Whisner of Dillsburg, PA and Kay White of Mocksville, NC.

Joanne worked for NEIF in Allentown, PA for many years and loved her job and colleagues. She was proud of her career there and often professed how she felt honored to work there with so many amazing people. In her spare time she loved gardening, spending time with her family, watching Hallmark movies (especially of the holiday variety) and partaking in long chats over a cup of coffee or a nice glass of wine.

She has a legacy that will live on through her children and grandchildren and her loving nature will never be forgotten, she will be profoundly missed.

Her services will take place at Faith Free Church in Trexlertown, 6528 Hamilton Blvd, Allentown, PA 18106, on Friday, September 27th 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at the church. Services will begin at 12:00. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus will be handling arrangements.
