Obituary

Jeffrey L. Duke Jeffrey L. Duke, 54, of Macungie, formerly of Sarver, passed away peacefully in his home on March 6, 2007 after a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was the husband of Geri (Maggitti) Duke. They celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary in November 2006. Born in Natrona Heights, he was the son of Joanne (Cruikshank) wife of John M. Kokenda of Melbourne, FL and the late Walter Duke. He graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1970; attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Class of 1974. He began his career as a funeral director with Stephens Funeral Home and joined the Horace W. Schantz Funeral Home, Inc. in 1993. He was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association where he was honored with a lifetime achievement award in 2006. He was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church, Emmaus and the Emmaus Rotary Club. Jeff was head JV baseball coach for the Emmaus High School since 2001. Previously he coached baseball at Allen High School for 13 years also for Union Terrace, West Allentown Connie Mack and Bill Fritzinger Leagues. He coached many youth basketball programs. Jeff also played baseball for TriCounty, Cetronia and East Texas. He played many years in the Mens Senior Baseball League. Survivors: Wife; Mother; Son Jeffrey L. Duke, Jr. and his wife Julie of Allentown; Daughter, Michelle wife of Donald Kloss of Wescosville; Stepsons, Glenn and Thomas Recker at home; Brother, Ronald Duke fianc of Donna Christie of Freeport; Sister, Cindy wife of James Reo of New Kensington, Lori wife of Daniel Cochran of Columbia, MD and grandchildren, Allison, Alex and Jessica; Nieces and Nephews. Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9. 2007 at 11:00 AM in St. Anns Catholic Church, 415 South 6th Street, Emmaus.
