Obituary

Jay Weaknecht, 88, formerly of Emmaus, died May 13, 2018 in The Health Center at Galloway, NJ.  He was the husband of the late Kathryn E. (Stortz) Weaknecht.  Born in Topton, he was the son of the late James W. and Marie (Lesher) Weaknecht.  He was a 1947 graduate of Kutztown High School.  Jay worked for Ritter Furniture as a carpet installer, custodian for Emmaus Moravian Church, and later worked in the maintenance department at East Penn School District, retiring in 1996.  He was a member of the Emmaus Moravian Church and the Emmaus Ambulance Corps.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by sons, Rev. Bruce M. Weaknecht and wife Renae of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ and Mark J. Weaknecht of Hamburg and Cindy Durante; Grandchildren, Joshua Weaknecht and wife Carrie, Marissa wife of Brice Ambron, and Gretchen wife of Isaiah Gerhart; Great Grandchildren, Hailey, Aaron, Cozette, and Connor. He was predeceased by a daughter, Gail M. Weaknecht and a brother, Richard Weaknecht.

Memorial Services will be held Fri., May 18, 2018 at 7:00 PM in Emmaus Moravian Church, Main St. and Keystone Ave., Emmaus.  Private interment in Emmaus Moravian Cemetery.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmaus Moravian Church, 148 Main St., Emmaus, PA 18049.
