Jay Richard Nyce passed away peacefully in his home located in the Oley Valley on January 1, 2022. He was born on March 31, 1948 in Norristown, PA, to Dick and Miriam Nyce. He grew up in Audubon enjoying playing baseball with the neighborhood boys. There were many family gatherings over the years at his parent's' home which kept the family close.

Jay graduated from Methacton High school in June 1966 with an extra focus on academics in Mechanical Drawing and Drafting. He attended Penn State University from 1966-68 majoring in Landscaping Architecture and Civil Engineering. He served in the Army as a Field Artillery, Maintenance Management Sgt. 1969-70. He worked 33 years for Peco and 14 years for PJM interconnections. Jay retired on December 1, 2004 and chose to become a bus driver for the Boyertown School District till 2017. He loved driving "bus 90" and all the precious children that were a part of his ride.

Jay was truly a "gentleman's gentleman" holding God, family and country close to the vest. Everyone who knew him loved his kind and caring nature. He was very patriotic and always enjoyed hearing bands play our National Anthem. Everything Jay was involved in he gave his all and with great detail and precision whether designing a project around our home, cutting his lawn or helping someone else with a project. He was a true "Chevy Man" attending many car shows and getting together with his fellow car enthusiasts. Every Sunday afternoon he was ready to watch the NASCAR races cheering for Jimmy Johnson, his favorite driver. His love affair with cars lasted throughout his life enjoying driving all over the countryside. He was an avid hunter, a love which he shared with his father at the Bonnell Run Hunting and Fishing Corporation. He was a member of New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Oley, Pa. He served as an usher in his church weekly. Jay loved hymns of the church, but he had a specialty of recalling "oldies but goodies" telling who sang them and in what year. He loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Jay's last retirement job as a bus driver was more than a job…he loved the children and offered the same advice daily, "Be kind to one another." His most important role was being a grandfather fondly known as "Pop Pop." No one loved him more than his grandchildren, who will miss him so much. Jay and Terri shared 20 years of marriage as of April 7, 2021.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Miriam Nyce. Elaine (Smith) Nyce. Surviving family members: wife Terri Moyer Nyce, brother David and "Cathy" Nyce, sister Linda and "Ritchie" Stiteler, children Holly Nyce, Eric Nyce, Cozette McAvoy, and Joshua McAvoy. Grandchildren: Kylie, Julia, Avalynn, Quinn, Ayla, Colton, Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

On February 23, 2022, a military burial with take place at 10:00 AM at Solomon's UCC at 82 S Church Street Macungie, PA 18062

Services will follow at New Life Bible Fellowship Church at 11:30 at 2960 W. Philadelphia Ave. Oley PA 19547 Services to be followed by light refreshments and informal visitation.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
