Jay H. Koenig Jay H. Koenig, 68, of Fleetwood, died December 24, 2009 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading. He was the husband of Doris E. (Heist) Koenig. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on December 10, 2009. Born in Kutztown, he was the son of the late Arlan L. and Anna J. (Miller) Koenig. He was a graduate of the National School of Meat Cutting, Toledo, OH. Jay was a meat cutter for Freed's Market, Inc., Gilbertsville for 40 years, retiring in 2004. Previously he worked for the former Frys Store, Kutztown. He was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, PA. He honorably served his country in the Army during Vietnam. Survivors: Wife, Brother, Gerald C. Koenig and wife Amy E. of Kutztown; Sister, Cynthia D. wife of Rev. James W. Schlegel of Kutztown; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Ray A. Koenig. Services: Funeral Services Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Viewing 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church.
