Obituary

Janet Salvage departed on Thursday, the 27th of September 2018 at St. Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem.  She was born July 24, 1943, in Emmaus to Charles and Ethel Egner.  Janet graduated from Emmaus High School and attended business school.  She was a dedicated employee of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 33 years.  Active for many years with Pennsylvania Playhouse, Janet played lead female roles in 25 plays.   She was a lover of books and free-lance writer of articles, short stories, and several poems.   Her work appeared in "Short Stuff" magazine, the "Lehigh Valley Literary Review", among others, as well as in the column "Her View" in the Express Times for over a decade beginning in the early 1990's.    After retirement, she volunteered and then worked part-time at St. Luke's Hospital for Information Services (Bethlehem campus).  She was scheduled for a second retirement in October, which would have given her over 11 years of service.

Janet is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Len Salvage; son Jay Locher; sister Kathy Thomas; two step-daughters Colette Zoobi and Tracy Salvage; two grandchildren Samira and Ian; and her dog Max.
