James "Jim" Harris Zapp, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Conway, SC on April 24th, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Zapp; his sister, Debra Oplinger; his children, Daniel Zapp, Michael Zapp, Samantha Sheridan and five grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents James Richard Zapp and Nancy (Short) Zapp.

James was born on January 27th in Allentown, Pa and grew up in Emmaus. He attended Kutztown University to study Fine Arts after graduating from Emmaus High School in 1973. He wed Ruth Amos on June 14th, 1980 and they remained married for 42 years.

James worked in drafting and mechanical design at several companies including Air Products, Inc and Arencibia Associates. In his free time, he was a coach for children's sports, a leader in the Boy Scout organization, an outdoorsman, and a voracious reader. Jim loved a good time spent with family and friends, sharing music, knowledge, and memories. He never stopped listening to others and learning as much as he could about the world around him. Jim, we will miss you and love you always.

Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday April, 29th 2023 at Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049, with a calling hour from 2:30-3:30 pm. Jim was an avid animal lover and, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to your local animal shelter.
