Obituary

James Rodger George, 86, of Allentown, died peacefully December 25, 2024 in Devon House, Allentown.  He was the husband of Barbara J. (Cox) George.  Born in Freeport, PA, he was the son of the late Tom and Loretta George.  Rodger was a professor in the sociology department at Kutztown University for more than 20 years, retiring in 2000.  He was a former member of the Lions Club.  Rodger enjoyed riding motorcycles. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and boxing. He collected playing cards and enjoyed playing solitaire. He liked reading true crime books, and about history. After retiring he enjoyed watching movies at home, especially Sherlock Holmes, Charlie Chan, the Bowery Boys, Clint Eastwood, mystery, sci-fi, and the Three Stooges. He liked watching Get Smart, Mash, Kolchak, westerns, and Svengoolie. He enjoyed coffee and iced tea.

Rodger will be remembered by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; son, Jason R. George.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
