Jacob I. Heil, 96, formerly of Macungie, died March 15, 2022 in Saucon Valley Manor.  He was the husband of Myrle G. (Geist) Heil.  Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late James B. and Verna (Kerchner) Heil.  He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  Jacob worked as a truck driver for Merritt Lumber and Caloric for 35 years, retiring in 1987.  He was a member of the million-mile club.  He was a member of Solomon's U.C.C., and life member of the Macungie VFW and Macungie Fire Company.

Jacob is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Myrle; son, Timothy J. Heil and wife Kathy of Camas, WA; daughter, Beth A. wife of Glen Strouse of Slatington; grandchildren, Stephen, Stephanie, Jade, and Jasmine; great grandchildren, Ciara, Jakob, and Lily; brother, James B. Heil, Jr. of Egypt; sister-in-law, Marian Heil of Macungie.  He was predeceased by siblings, Harold and Donald Heil, Lillian Heller, Elizabeth Heil, and Dorothy Rohrbach.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. March 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Viewing 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow in Solomons Union Cemetery, Macungie.
