Hiram G. Helfrich, Jr., 88, of Lower Macungie Twp., died Jan. 9, 2023 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna L. (Yoachim) Helfrich. Born in Zionsville, he was the son of the late Eva F. (Farber) and Hiram G. Helfrich, Sr. Hiram was a mechanic and owned and operated the former Helfrich's Gulf and Citgo in Emmaus and Helfrich's Accessories in Zionsville. He was also a school bus driver for East Penn School District for 33 years. He was a member of Chestnut Hill Church UCC and a member of the former Emmaus Nest of Owls.
Hiram is survived by his sons, Glenn A. Helfrich of Hereford and Gerry A. Helfrich and wife Irma of Mt. Zion, IL; daughter, Gloria A. Roeder of Center Valley; Grandchildren, Scott M. and wife Maureen of Mountville, Stephanie R., and Timothy A. of Mt. Zion, IL; Great Grandchildren, Dara A., Eamon M., and Clare R. Helfrich of Mountville; sisters, Mary Horn of Emmaus and Suzanne wife of Elmer Kester of Columbia, SC. He was predeceased by a grandson, Nathaniel, son-in-law, Michael Roeder, daughter-in-law, Linda Helfrich, brothers, Edward Bergsman, Sr. and Robert Helfrich, and sister, Dolores Heimbach.
A funeral service will be held on Sat., Jan. 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Viewing from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
