Harold C. Hixson Harold C. Hixson, 91, passed away in his home in Emmaus on August 13, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Dorothy A. (Humenik) Hixson for almost 68 years. He was born in Quakertown on October 20, 1918, the son of the late Charles R. and Flossie (Sames) Hixson. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1936, third in his class. He attended Lehigh University on a scholarship, graduating in 1940 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by PPL for 41 years, becoming Lehigh Division Engineering supervisor. He spent two years in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in the signal corps and then was sent to the Philippines and was awarded a bronze star for the liberation of the Island. After the bombs were dropped he went to Tokyo as part of the Occupation forces until transferred to General Headquarters. After discharge in 1946, he returned to PPL until his retirement in 1981. He was a professional engineer and member of the Macungie VFW. Survivors: Besides his wife; Son, Boyd G. Hixson and wife Cheryl of Coplay; Daughter, Jane E. Hixson of Virginia; Sister, Lois E. Cressman of Allentown; Grandson, Jonathan G. Hixson wife Jill of Virginia and two great grandchildren. Services: Funeral Services Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main Street, Emmaus. Interment with military honors will follow in Emmaus Moravian Cemetery.
