Obituary

Harold E. Haberstumpf Harold E. Haberstumpf, 85, of Emmaus, died Nov. 4, 2008 in Lehigh Center. He was the husband of Lois E. (Wieder) Haberstumpf and the late Jean E. (Woodring) Haberstumpf. Harold and Lois celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July 2008. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Edwin N. and Mary A. (Reith) Haberstumpf. He worked as a tool and die maker for the former Rodale Manufacturing for 20 years. He was a supervisor in the machine shop at Allen Organ from 1963 until retiring in 1987. He had a shoe repair shop in Emmaus until 1994. He was a member of Emmaus Moravian Church. He was a member of Emmaus Lodge #792 F&AM and Lehigh Consistory, Emmaus VFW and Legion, Disabled Vets, 66th Panther Division, Purple Heart, Citizens Fire Co. #2, Macungie Fire Co., and North End Rod and Gun Club. He honorably served his country during WWII, where he survived the sinking of Leopoldville in the English Channel Christmas Eve 1944, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Survivors: Wife; Sons, Leslie W. Haberstumpf and wife Linda of Emmaus and Roy P. Haberstumpf and wife Patti of Macungie; Daughter, Diane E. wife of Joe Corinti of Maricopa, AZ; Brother, Herman W. Haberstumpf of Emmaus; Sister-in-law, Kathleen Haberstumpf of Emmaus; Granddaughters, Kristen and Brent Shriver, Shannon and Jon Strella; Grandsons, Craig and Dustin Haberstumpf; 4 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Services: Memorial Services Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Emmaus Moravian Church, Main St. and Keystone Ave., Emmaus. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Northwood Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., Emmaus is in charge of arrangements.
