Gwendolynn Joy Michael Gwendolynn Gwen Joy Michael, of Macungie, passed away peacefully in her home on a beautiful spring like day on March 14, 2008, just shy of her 79th birthday. She was the wife of John Michael. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in December 2007. Born in Sayre, she was the daughter of the late Ahroma (Smith-Heiser) and John Hubert. A member of Emmaus High School Class of 1949, she received an associate degree from Northampton Community College and a bachelor of fine arts in interior design from the New York School of Interior Design, receiving the schools highest design award, The Bronze Medal. Upon graduation she began a long teaching career as an adjunct professor of interior design at Northampton Community College and The New York School of Interior Design. She held the position of assistant academic dean at the New York School, retiring in 1996. She was the right hand for her architect husband, working side by side on many local, national and international projects. She was a member of the Kress Society, Allentown Art Museum. Survivors: She will be greatly missed by her husband and daughter Gayl of Nantucket, MA. Services: A private memorial service will be held for her many friends and students, at a later date.
