Obituary

Grace E. Kirby, 98, of Macungie, passed away Jan. 3, 2019 in her residence. She was the widow of Horace E. Kirby and the daughter of the late George L. and Rebecca (Mentz) Entemann. Born in Philadelphia, she graduated from Philadelphia Business College and worked at Quaker Lace Co. as a billing clerk. Grace moved to Allentown as a bride in 1941 and worked briefly at Hess's Dept. Store and moved to the farm in 1945. She worked as a secretary in the law offices of Coleman and Hyman for several years and then as a bookkeeper for Atty. Irving W. Coleman for 15 years. She worked at Re/Max Town and Country as a bookkeeper until retiring in 2013. She was a member of Solomon's U.C.C., Macungie where she taught Bible School in her younger years and sang in the choir for many years. She was a charter member of GFWC Woman's Club of Macungie, Macungie Fire Co. Auxiliary, AARP Chapter 4250, Lower Macungie Senior Citizens, charter member of Macungie Institute and Lehigh County Historical Society, charter member of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Foundation and many other charitable organizations. She happily organized many of her trips over 25 years for which she will be remembered. Grace was devoted to her family and she enjoyed cooking, baking, SHOPPING, word games, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.Grace is survived by her daughter, Eleanor "Ellie" Kirby Raudenbush; grandson, Ronald "Chip" Keller and wife Arlene; granddaughter, Rebecca wife of Dominic Martino; great grandchildren, Anthony, Brett, Peter, Luke and Elizabeth Keller and Jessica and Kayla Greiss and Crocifisso "Cross" Martino; great great granddaughter, Addison Keller. She was predeceased by brothers, Lloyd L. and Elmer W. Entenmann.Funeral Services will be held on Sat., Jan. 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Solomon's U.C.C., 82 S. Church St., Macungie, PA 18062. Viewing Fri. 6:00 to 8:00 PM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus and Sat. 9:30 to 11:00 AM in church. Interment will follow in Solomon's Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Solomon's U.C.C. or to the Macungie Ambulance Corps., P.O. Box 114, Macungie, PA 18062.
