G.R. Russell Craig, 94, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Elsie (Schwertl) Craig. Born in Hempstead, New York, he was the son of the late Robert Russell Craig and Margaret (Rankin) Craig. He graduated from Hofstra University (B.S.) and Iowa State University (MSc). Russell honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a market research manager for Hercules in Wilmington, Delaware, for many years before retiring. Russell was very active throughout retirement - being a member of the Delaware Saengerbund, working part-time jobs and serving as Treasurer of Zion Lutheran Church, where he and Elsie were married. He moved to Allentown, PA in 2024 and enjoyed living at the Terrace at Phoebe, where he met many new friends and also volunteered. He enjoyed listening to music and staying current on political affairs. Russell was a brother in the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York for 65 years.
Russell is survived by his son, Matthew Craig, and wife Jennifer King of Ambler, Pennsylvania; daughter Elizabeth /Liesel Craig, wife of Timothy Kyle of Emmaus, Pennsylvania; brother Alan Craig, and wife Eleanor of Greenville, Delaware; six grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews.
As a final act of giving, Russell donated his body to science through the Humanity Gifts Registry. Arrangements are entrusted to Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
